Fussy Babies and Sleep Problems
How to respond with love and sensitivity
The period of fussing that many babies go through can be a challenge for parents.
Learning to normalize this behavior and respond sensitively rather than react by stressing, overstimulating, and pathologizing can help parents and baby relax.
The Fussy Baby Clinic
There is no such thing as a “cure-all” for fussy babies. Dr. Blackwell provides individual consultation to parents focused on understanding, coping, and relief. Parents will learn about infant states, patterns of colic, and how excessive crying may be a normal phase of development. Parents will also learn holistic strategies such as infant massage, movement experiences, and how to “read and respond” appropriately without overstimulating Baby.
Managing Sleep
After the colic has passed, some babies and children continue to struggle with sleep. Dr. Blackwell offers individual sleep guidance for parents and children. Just as there is no one solution to fussy baby issues, sleep training must feel right for parents and respect the child’s age and stage of development.
